Weekend in Grand Rapids

Last weekend we took a road trip to Grand Rapids, MI to take advantage of a free night in a hotel that Jay has acquired through his work travel. We left for Grand Rapids on Friday morning. Once we arrived we checked into our nice hotel and went to the Children's Museum. We spent a couple of fun hours grocery shopping, working in a cafe, making bubbles, and watching a bee hive in action. We then headed back to our hotel where two of Jay's nieces (who are students at Calvin) joined us for pizza and swimming. On Saturday we enjoyed some breakfast and then Jay took the kids back to finish exploring the Children's Museum so I could go to the Gerald Ford Museum to spend a couple of hours exploring and reading. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Grand Rapids. Saturday afternoon we headed back to Illinois. It was a short trip, but very fun.

Birthday Celebrations!

Last week Jenny turned 4 and Andrew turned 1. Jenny thoroughly enjoyed the week since she blew out all of the candles and opened all of the presents. The week prior to their birthday we were able to have a birthday celebration for Jenny and Andrew with both sets of grandparents, as well as some cousins and an aunt and uncle. The new doll house from Grandma and Grandpa was safely put in Jenny's room where Andrew cannot get it. Both kids have enjoyed playing with all of their new toys. Jay and I enjoyed playing cards with Grandma and Grandpa while they were here as well.

Trip to California

We had a great trip to CA. Kenny and Erin had the most beautiful wedding (quite possibly the most picturesque wedding ever). We enjoyed some great weather; it was a treat to sit outside and be warm. We had a great time spending time with family and meeting Kylie, Krista, and Trevin. Jenny, Andrew, Grandma, Dayna, David and I enjoyed a trip to the Sacramento Zoo. We saw a lot of neat animals: lions, giraffes, red pandas, chimpanzees, gorillas, a tiger, and a snow leopard. The picture below is of the kids trying to stand on one foot like the flamingos.
